I’ve worked with plenty of website builders over the years and trust me, some of them will have you questioning your life choices. Sorry, but you shouldn’t require a programming degree just to move an image half an inch to the left.

I use Wix for my clients’ websites because it delivers the strongest results for service providers. Below are 10 reasons Wix is the best website platform for service providers in the wedding industry, but equally effective for service-based businesses outside of it. If you sell a service, these reasons apply, whether you’re a wedding planner, photographer, cake designer, HMUA, florist, coach or VA.

Here are 10 reasons to use Wix:

1. Design freedom that wedding creatives will love

Wix lets us design exactly how we want, and where we want, down to the pixel.

Unlike other platforms that box you into rigid grid layouts, Wix gives you full creative control. Want to layer text over an image? Go for it. Want to crop your images into shapes? Done. Want lots of artistic ways to transition between your sections? You got it!

For visually driven businesses like wedding professionals, this level of control matters.

2. Built-in features (that other platforms charge for)

Wix comes loaded with features that other website builders either don’t offer, charge extra for, or make you install a bunch of external apps.

Need a blog? Built-in. Forms? Yep. Looking for an easy way to collect emails? There’s a Wix app for that (also free). Digital products? Add them to your shop as easily as physical products.

Compare that to other platforms where you’d need to shell out for extra plugins or apps to be able to do every single little thing, and you’ll see the value pretty quickly.

3. Affordable pricing for premium plans

If you’re running a service-based business, every dollar counts (especially if your business is new).

Your website is one of many business tools you'll need to budget for, and Wix is much more budget-friendly than platforms like Shopify or Squarespace. Plus, since so many features are already included, you won’t get nickel-and-dimed for every necessary feature you need.

Wix did just raise their prices in 2025 but it's still very reasonable. Monthly pricing for non-ecom sites start at just $28 CAD, or about $21/month with an annual plan. And they often have promotions for 50% off annual plans. So I suggest paying monthly until you see the 50% off banner, and then upgrade!

4. Super user-friendly (even for non-designers)

Not a web designer? No problem. Wix’s drag-and-drop editor makes it easy for anyone to make updates and edits without touching a single line of code.

Now there still is a learning curve when you're new to Wix, just like learning anything. But once you get the hang of it, it's super easy to use. All my clients receive a reference guide with training and tutorials so you know how to update and edit all the important stuff on your own. But if you don't want to do it yourself, I'm available to help with updates.

And their support team is amazing. I contacted them once, expecting the usual “Here’s a link to a blog post” response, but nope. I put in a call request and they actually called me back in 20 mins, explained exactly how to fix the issue AND actually fixed it for me right while we were on the call. The other platforms I’ve tried usually just sent me into an endless loop of help articles that didn’t actually help.

5. A free trial that's actually free

The free trial is free. As in forever! So it's not even really a trial. It's just a free plan. Most website builders give you a two-week trial or less, which is honestly laughable. Unless you’re a pro designer (and oftentimes even if you are), you’re not designing a website in two weeks. I didn’t even build my own website in two weeks!

Wix lets you take your time. You only pay when you’re ready to go live. Until then, tweak away, stress-free. Just keep in mind you can't connect a custom domain or accept payments on the free plan. But you really should get a custom domain to look legit.

6. Mobile responsiveness

Full transparency - this is actually something that a lot of people don't like. Wix isn’t fully responsive in the traditional sense. It’s actually adaptive. That means it doesn’t automatically rearrange every element on smaller screens like a typical responsive site would.

What I love about this approach is the control it gives you. Wix provides a separate mobile editor, so you can design your mobile site independently from your desktop site. You can adjust text sizes, alignment, spacing, and element placement specifically for mobile users. This lets you fine-tune the experience on smaller screens without relying on automatic adjustments that might not look right. Your site can look and function exactly the way you want, providing a smooth and seamless experience for your visitors.

7. Reliable hosting and security

Wix’s got your back when it comes to hosting and security. They handle all the techy stuff, so your site runs fast and stays online. Plus, they take security seriously, protecting both your site and your visitors’ data. It's one less thing you have to worry about while you focus on your business.

8. SEO-friendly features

Getting your website noticed online is a big deal, and Wix has built-in SEO tools to help with just that. Easily optimize things like meta tags, URLs, and headings to improve your site’s ranking in search engines. It's all designed to make it easier to get your site in front of the right people. They even guide you through an SEO to-do checklist that will let you know what to do next and if you’ve missed something important.

9. Extensive template collection

For DIYers and designers alike, Wix has an amazing collection of over 500 templates that are perfect for all types of businesses. From e-commerce to portfolios, blogging to professional services, you’ll find a template that fits your vibe. Plus, you can edit them to your heart’s content so your site always matches your unique style.

10. Constantly evolving with new features

Wix is always improving and adding new features. I’ve seen it firsthand, with new tools and integrations popping up regularly. Whether it’s better e-commerce tools, fresh design options, or additional app integrations, Wix is always keeping things interesting. You’re not getting stuck with the same tired features like some other platforms.

Final Thoughts

Wix (like all site builders) is definitely not for everyone but it sure does know who it serves, and it serves them well. For creatives, service-based businesses, e-commerce stores, and non-techy folks, it’s a solid choice. It’s flexible, packed with features, and won’t drain your wallet. So if you’re looking for a website builder that will make your life easier, not annoying-er, Wix might be exactly what you’re looking for!

Obviously, not everyone has the desire (or the time) to take on the task of designing or editing their Wix website themselves, and that’s where I come in! Whether you need a brand new site, a complete makeover of an outdated or DIY site, I’m here to help service providers and wedding professionals create a polished, high-converting online presence that reflects their brand, attracts ideal clients, and works flawlessly across all devices.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wix

Is Wix good for service-based businesses?

Yes, Wix is excellent for service businesses and wedding pros. It offers affordable pricing, built-in features that other platforms charge extra for, and a user-friendly editor that doesn't require coding.

How much does Wix cost for a service business?

Wix pricing for service-based businesses (if you don't need to take payments on-site) is $28 CAD/month with a monthly plan, and about $21/mo with an annual plan. They frequently offer 50% off annual plans, making it one of the most affordable website builders available.

Can I use Wix for free?

Yes, Wix offers a free plan (not just a free trial) that you can use forever. However, the free plan doesn't allow custom domains, so you'll likely want to upgrade to a paid plan when you're ready to launch. I strongly recommend using a custom domain. Domains for free plans look very unprofessional because you'll have a .wixsite domain and a Wix advertisement banner at the top of your site.

Do I need coding skills to use Wix?

No. Wix's drag-and-drop editor is designed for people with zero coding experience. You can build a professional website without writing a single line of code.

Is Wix good for SEO?

Yes, Wix has improved significantly in SEO over the years. It includes built-in SEO tools like customizable meta tags, URLs, headings, and an SEO checklist to guide you through optimization. Google has confirmed that Wix is fine for SEO.

And from my own experience, I'm ranking blog posts on page 1 within hours! So yes, Wix is excellent for SEO.

Can I hire someone to design my Wix website?

Absolutely. Many professional web designers (including myself) specialize in Wix website design. Hiring a designer ensures your site is strategically built to convert visitors into clients, even if you could technically DIY it.

What types of businesses use Wix?

Wix is popular among service providers (local businesses, coaches, VAs), wedding professionals (photographers, planners, florists), creative entrepreneurs, and small e-commerce stores. It's versatile enough for most small business needs.
